I had been trying for the last two years to get learn and become fluent in Swahili but have little time to study using Duolingo on my own. Then I learned about vee and her company Lugha Swahili School. She’s truly amazing! I have bought and tried virtually every YouTube video for Swahili (music videos and movies with subtitles). They all had good and bad points, but I would finish with a slightly larger vocabulary, but not feeling like i really made much progress in being able to converse with someone in Swahili. If you’re like me and you thrive off interactive learning, Vee’s classes are the way to go! I’ve worked with a few different instructors. She’s well organized and I’m convinced she’s probably the best overall. Instead of trying to expand your vocabulary quickly or trying to get you to conjugate every verb perfectly (like some of the others), vee and her team are aimed at getting you conversational in Swahili with a usable set of basic syntaxes. I love her!

Veronica is an excellent instructor. I really learned a lot and feel she was patient and made the learning fun while maintaining structure and rigor.

I loved the class and the thoughtful helpful materials. So many classes and apps leave you with vocabulary but little understanding of the context and structure behind the language. Veronica made the different modules easy and explained the structural and historical pieces that I would not have gotten on my own. Highly recommended.

Veronica is an excellent tutor! I knew no Kiswahili before starting, but after completing her Beginners Course, I can read, write, translate, and speak on a number of subjects! Veronica strikes the balance perfectly between grammar, vocabulary, and explaining concepts. She has also given me insight into the rich historical and cultural roots of Swahili, as well as its significance for the modern-day economy of Tanzania, East Africa, and the African continent more generally. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with veronica! What an enjoyable and motivating 10 weeks. I will most certainly be coming back for more!
